About Keto Diet Food

The keto diet combines the best of paleo and primal diets with the ketogenic diet. It’s a healthy way of incorporating veggies, protein, and fats to lose weight and get fit. All unhealthy, gut-disrupting, hormone-unbalanced foods are to be avoided on the keto diet. The goal is to balance your intake of food to maximize fat burning and energy levels.

keto diet before and afterMy name is Carlin and I got started on the Keto diet in 2016. I’ve never been on a diet, but I was prompted to change my lifestyle habits when I gained 25lbs over a 2.5 year time period.

I found out about the Keto Diet & Intermittent Fasting accidentally one day while stumbling around the web doing research – like all “great” discoveries happen! I now combine healthy eating, fasting and Cross Fit to get back in shape.

If you aren’t familiar with Intermittent Fasting (IF) and its health benefits, its an awesome way to supplement your keto diet plan. Your body naturally fasts during the night so IF just prolongs the period of fasting and crunches your meals into a shorter time period instead of 3 meals a day at set morning, noon and night eating times.

James Clear puts it this way:

Intermittent fasting is not a diet, it’s a pattern of eating. It’s a way of scheduling your meals so that you get the most out of them. Intermittent fasting doesn’t change what you eat, it changes when you eat.

At 50, it’s an exciting way to head into the second half of my life. Although I put on 25lbs., my overall BMI is 22 – and at 5’9″ and 155lbs I’m don’t have that much more work to get myself back to the pant size I’d like to be wearing.

If you are like me, maybe you put on a couple dozen pounds and want to change your lifestyle. The Ketogenic diet is an excellent way to get control of your food, your beverages and make healthy food choices in life.

I hope your journey on the Keto Diet is as exciting as mine. To get started, take a look at the Keto Diet Shopping List!

I do want to put out this disclaimer, I’m not a nutritionist, doctor or certified “healthtician” – I just made that word up… everything on this website is from my own experience or research and not official medical advice. Before you start a ketogenic diet or intermittent fasting, you should consult with your doctor and see if a new diet or fasting schedule is right for you. I balance a healthy diet with a fasting schedule, and that works for me. It may not work for you. Before starting any new diet, consult your doctor.
